John,
It’s been almost a month since the election, and I’m getting ready to get to work for Western PA in a new session of Congress. But my values and mission stay the same.
I’m fighting to lower costs for working families. Corporate profits are sky high while working families are struggling to make ends meet. It’s time to take on these price-gouging monopolies and lower costs for the American people. In my second term, I’ll keep up that fight to rein in corporate power, give small businesses a shot, and bring good-paying jobs back to Western PA.
I will always fight to protect your freedoms. Though my time in uniform may be over, our fight for American freedoms is anything but. Extremists are hell-bent on controlling our families. Whether it’s abortion and birth control access, voting rights, or the right to marry whoever you love, I’ll continue the work to defend your freedoms.
I will always fight for common sense reforms to protect all of us. I served in a war zone, and let me tell you: weapons of war do not belong in our schools or on our streets. I know that we need to work towards gun safety and save lives. When a powerful railroad sends a toxic fireball into your community, we shouldn’t be trying to find a “win-win.” We should take them on and fight for our safety. That’s why I’ve introduced legislation to make rail safer – all to protect communities like ours.
In the Navy, I lived by the motto “Ship, Shipmate, Self." You put the mission first, you put others before yourself. That guiding principle is why I will always put Western PA first.
