Twenty-five years ago, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) was awarded the 1999 Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of our pioneering humanitarian work around the world. Today, this work is more vital than ever.

Even as our work continues to evolve and our teams grow, we remain committed to providing independent medical humanitarian aid based on needs alone.

In 1999, we launched the Access Campaign using the prize we were awarded from the Nobel Prize, which fought to lower the price of HIV drugs that were already saving lives in wealthy nations.
In 2014, we tackled the largest-ever outbreak of Ebola in West Africa.
In 2020, we quickly responded to the COVID-19 pandemic while also adapting our existing programs to safeguard patients and staff.
In 2023, we responded in the first hours of the powerful earthquakes hitting Türkiye and Syria.
Today, we are providing lifesaving maternal care amid ongoing bombardment in Gaza.
