Later today, the full Senate is voting on Trey Trainor’s nomination to the Federal Election Commission (FEC).

But as Issue One has warned, Trainor is the wrong choice to serve as a commissioner due to his lack of support for commonsense enforcement of our nation’s campaign finance laws. During his confirmation hearing, he wrongly suggested that dark money groups are already disclosing their donors to the FEC and declined to support new transparency rules. He’s also expressed support for defunding Texas’s equivalent of the FEC.

With Trainor on the FEC, the agency would stay hopelessly broken and essentially missing in action when it comes to enforcing our nation’s election laws.
