VIDEO OF THE DAY: Rupert Murdoch suffers bombshell loss in court
The 93-year-old man perhaps most responsible for strangling mainstream news and overseeing its detestable rightward slide into the muck over the past 40+ years just lost his last-ditch effort to rewrite the terms of his family trust and hand his many-billion-dollar empire fully in tact to his eldest son and conservative hardliner, Lachlan. Like the television series Murdoch himself inspired, this latest Succession-esque twist has more than a little schadenfreude for those wondering what might've been if literally any legislative body or judicial system — left-leaning or right — would've stood up to Rupert's authoritarian, anti-democratic, decades-long quest to destroy "fair and balanced" journalism. Cue the world's tiniest violin.

Trump lobbying DeSantis to name daughter-in-law Lara to Senate
The MAGA cult leader is reportedly advocating for Lara Trump to become Florida's next senator if and when Marco Rubio is confirmed as the next secretary of the State Department. Lara's qualifications include co-chairing the RNC for nine whole months, serving as a producer on teevee's Inside Edition, recording an abominable version of Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down" that exactly no on wanted or asked for, and — perhaps most impressively — staying married to Donald's second son, Eric, for 10 years and counting. Clearly, she's the right person to fill Marco's li'l shoes.

Trump slammed for "rage rhetoric" against Jan. 6 panel as he taps suspected rioter to join transition team
Sure, Donald is an undisciplined, autocratic wrecking ball and should be rightly admonished for his "rage rhetoric," but let's not lose the plot. Mitch McConnell and his fellow "establishment" Republicans rubber-stamped the normalization of Trump's anti-democratic and seditious behavior when they refused to convict the MAGA cult leader during his second impeachment trial for his conspiracy-fueled insurrection attempt on Jan. 6, 2021. Fast-forward to today, where one of the very insurrectionists who heeded Trump's call and stormed the Capitol — right-wing activist Pete Marocco — is set for a seat at the fricking table in the president-elect's transition team. We are witnessing the real-time dismantling of our 248-year-old experiment in democratic rule of law. It was, uh, good while it lasted?

Kari Lake a top contender to become Trump’s ambassador to Mexico
Former television soft-focus clown and perennial election loser Kari Lake has emerged as a leading contender to become Trump's ambassador to Mexico, where she will surely woo our southern neighbors to finish building that hundred-billion-dollar wall and accept with open arms the millions of human beings Donald wants to relocate to Mexico, even though most of them aren't Mexican to begin with. Good luck with that, Kari! We're sure you'll keep up your winning ways.

Matt Gaetz reportedly has a new primetime TV gig
Anyone worried about not being able to regularly stare at the Florida gasbag's big, dumb face can rest a little easier, if reports from CNN are to be believed. Gaetz, whose bid to become Donald Trump's hand-picked fixer as attorney general went up in smoke on account of a damning House ethics investigation into very credible sex-trafficking allegations, is reportedly set to become an anchor at One America News (OAN), peddling MAGA propaganda and far-right fluff pieces on the very small screen.
"You should stop there": Jeanine Pirro admonishes Jesse Watters for suggesting CEO shooting suspect Luigi Mangione be murdered in prison
Folks, this is how far we've fallen. In yet another absolute garbage segment on Fox News yesterday, Jeanine Pirro — yes, that Jeanine Pirro — became the momentary voice of reason when she admonished fellow talking head Jesse Watters — an utter black hole of diet Tucker Carlson charisma whose own mom thinks he sucks — for casually suggesting that the suspect in the shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson should just be murdered in prison. So good to know this is the kind of trash grandparents across America are tuning into every damn day.
Netanyahu testifies for the first time in his corruption trial
In addition to being a bona fide war criminal, it's worth noting that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is also a run-of-the-mill, white-collar crook, having been credibly accused of fraud, breach of trust, and accepting bribes in a long-running, domestic corruption case. Today marks the first time in Israel's 76-year history that the country's premier has taken the stand as a defendant in a criminal trial.

America, the beautiful?
What a wonderful world?
