Dear John,

Today, December 10, we commemorate Human Rights Day , honoring the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948. As I reflect on this occasion, I am struck by both the immense challenges facing human rights defenders across the Americas and the extraordinary courage they demonstrate in their fight for justice. The principles in the Declaration remain as vital today as they were over 75 years ago.

For five decades, WOLA has worked to advance these rights throughout the Americas, including advocating for U.S. policies that reflect these principles. On this day, we celebrate the progress made toward protecting human rights while recognizing how much work still lies ahead.

The theme of this year’s Human Rights Day is “Our Rights. Our Future. Right Now.” This theme focuses on human rights as a protective and transformative force for good, and encourages us to recognize the importance and relevance of human rights in our everyday lives.

Today, as we take a moment to reflect and reaffirm our commitment to ensuring a better future, I am asking for your support [[link removed]] . Together, we can strengthen the fight for justice, equality, and freedom across the Americas. Your support fuels our work, enabling us to advocate for fair policies and stand alongside the brave individuals and communities pushing for change.
