President Donald Trump’s victory indicates that the identity politics of the left have failed. The so-called gender gap never materialized and women represented and voted for conservative values.
From Deb Fischer to Claudia Tenney, high quality candidates and female voters showed that we cannot be pandered to on the basis of sex. But rather that our interests are one and the same with American interests - a strong economy, public safety, and to restore America’s place in the world.
Together, we had many great successes and more are surely to come. While Maggie’s List endorsed candidates ran incredible campaigns and female voters showed up in strength, there is still work to do. As our Executive Director Lauren Zelt recently told CNN: “It’s true on both sides of the aisle that politics in DC is still a boys club," she said, with only 28.4% of the current Congress members being female.
We’re committed to supporting strong, conservative women for federal office. That work continues, and we’ll be starting the process of recruiting the next slate of candidates. With your continued support, the future looks bright!
