The proposed pardons for the rioters who invaded the U.S. Capitol almost five years ago (can you believe it) can work both for and against President Trump, depending on how he handles the complex situation.   The fact that all of those prosecuted were ardent Trump supporters brings an emotional component to Mr. Trump's decision. It's tough to let the legal bus rollover folks who love you.
