DECEMBER 2024

It’s the Season of Gratitude and Giving!

During this season of gratitude and giving, we are inspired by the generosity of our dedicated supporters who stand with our global movement to defend clean, safe water for communities worldwide. Every dollar raised helps ensure that Waterkeeper Alliance is ready to respond to urgent threats, protect our waterways from pollution, advance environmental justice, and safeguard the fundamental right to clean water for all.

Support from partners like you enables us to take swift action and drive meaningful change, no matter the challenge. Whether you've made a one-time gift, become a monthly donor, maximized your impact with an IRA gift, amplified our mission, or are just learning more about our work, we are deeply grateful to have you by our side. Together, we are building a world where clean water is protected for generations to come.

Wishing you a season of gratitude, solidarity, and hope for a cleaner, healthier future for our planet.

Calling for Action on Toxic ‘Forever Chemicals’

The New York Times recently published a Letter to the Editor from Waterkeeper Alliance CEO Marc Yaggi in response to an article that discusses the Trump administration's approach to environmental regulations, particularly concerning the protection of drinking water from contaminants like per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). Our letter underscores the public health risks posed by this toxic contamination and calls on the incoming administration to prioritize clean water over corporate interests by accelerating PFAS cleanup efforts.

Who Is Waterkeeper: Megh Ale, Karnali River Waterkeeper

Our profile features Megh Ale, Karnali River Waterkeeper, and his efforts to protect one of the world’s longest undammed rivers from the threats posed by hydropower projects, while preserving the cultural integrity of local riverside communities. Megh views his work not just as a conservation mission, but as a legacy for future generations. He often recites his mantra: “Om Kaylass Karnali Karma,” which translates to, “Let it flow free for the karma of our future generations.”
