As we celebrate Human Rights Day, feminist activists around the world are risking persecution, censorship, imprisonment, and more for defending rights. At Urgent Action Fund for Feminist Activism, we partner with activists on the front lines of the biggest challenges our world faces, mobilizing the resources they need to fuel their movements and helping ensure they are safe and cared for. And through our Rising Justice Campaign, you can support them too.

An organization from Kazakhstan recently reached out to Urgent Action Fund seeking funding to expand and sustain an online platform offering vital information for LGBTQIA+ teenagers in Central Asia and Eastern Europe. The platform provides critical information on identity, relationships, and mental health, addressing rising anti-LGBTQIA+ attitudes. Despite initial success and positive feedback, the platform faced backlash from conservative groups and subsequent attempts to be blocked. With our support, the organization will have enhanced legal and digital security measures, provide content translation into local languages, and increased capacity for social media outreach and partnerships with other local organizations.

Whether in Kazakhstan or in the United States, we must continue fighting for LGBTQIA+ rights and prevent backslides to the progress we’ve made. Urgent Action Fund has been supporting this fight for over 25 years. With deep roots in communities, we know the activists and organizations leading this work.
