Dear John,

As I reflect on 2024, I am filled with pride for the incredible impact the National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC), our partners, clients, and supporters - like you - have achieved this year. Thank you.

Today, on Human Rights Day, we are celebrating the transformative impact our collective efforts have had on the lives of thousands of people this year. This progress is made possible only by your support of NIJC and our mission to uphold human dignity and justice for all people.

This year, your commitment to NIJC helped us to:

  • Provide legal services to over 11,000 people, representing immigrants in 6,575 cases.
  • Win legal relief in 98% of cases, helping people live safely with their families and gain meaningful employment.
  • Assist 1,500+ newly arrived migrants in Chicago with knowing their legal rights and applying for immigration relief.
  • Secure compensation for families torn apart at the border.
  • Fight human rights abuses in immigrant detention and challenge profit-driven detention practices.
  • Defend asylum rights by challenging a new federal rule restricting access to asylum.

I invite you to read more about the impact we made together in 2024.

In June, we premiered a video at our annual Human Rights Awards luncheon that centers the stories of artist Camilo and restauranteurs Abdinasir and Habon. Their stories reflect how your support makes it possible for NIJC and our partners to transform lives. You can watch Camilo, Abdinasir, and Habon's inspiring journeys.

Your ongoing partnership enables us to keep fighting for dignity and justice for all immigrants. Today, on Human Rights Day, I hope that you will take a moment to celebrate all that we've achieved and the lives that have been transformed because of our accomplishments together.

With gratitude,

Mary Meg McCarthy
Executive Director, National Immigrant Justice Center
