Do you remember the first time you heard about Extinction Rebellion?

I remember it as though it was yesterday.

It was in a university classroom in Amsterdam when someone from our local group delivered the Heading for Extinction talk.

Midway through, I felt completely deflated. The science was undeniable — we're speeding towards an ecological catastrophe.

But then, after a short break with coffee and biscuits, came the turning point.

The words on the screen read:

“When hope dies, action begins.”

And that’s where we begin today.

The Countdown to 2025 Has Started
As we approach the end of 2024, everything points to next year being one of the most historic in human history. Six years ago, Extinction Rebellion demanded that governments must halt biodiversity loss and reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2025. Backed by science and ferocious love we have acted - and they have not.

Our mission remains no less necessary now, than it did in 2019. Thousands of rebels require your support to keep fighting the good fight.

We are still far off meeting the £50,000 target we set at the start of this year.

A Planet-wide Revolution
While Trump might have been re-elected and Global North nations may continue to backslide on climate commitments, our rebels worldwide are pushing forward with unyielding determination.

From fighting fast fashion in the Netherlands to protesting destructive policies in Italy and Denmark, to standing alongside Indigenous communities in the Amazon to battle wildfires, to challenging oppressive regimes in Uganda, rebels are taking action.

Like mycelium, we grow quietly beneath the surface, exploding into action when the moment is right. Each rebel is a spore of love, courage, and change, spreading far and wide.

Direct Action Needs Direct Funding

Earlier this year, we at the Fundraising team set out with one mission: ensure that our 100+ local groups have everything they need to escalate their fight for climate and environmental justice. This includes funds for organising actions, supporting legal costs, distributing awareness materials, conducting training, and sustaining full-time rebels.

To ensure these efforts continue through the first half of 2025, we need to reach our goal of £50,000 by the end of this year — and we know that you can make it happen.

£25: Pays for a local group in Indonesia to prepare flags and banners for a march.
