Dear John,
Since you care deeply about the future of our planet, I wanted to share important updates with you—and ways you can make your voice heard.
We've made incredible strides this year pushing for policies that finance conservation, stop natural resource crime, and elevate nature in the fight against climate change. But 2024 will soon be over, and some critical opportunities for conservation will be gone. As the US prepares for a new administration and Congress, we must ensure that protecting nature remains a top priority.
We need Congress to act fast to protect our communities and our environment. Here's how you can make a difference and take action in the coming weeks:
1. Help Keep Plastic Out of Nature
Earlier this year, thanks to the efforts of WWF activists like you, the Senate passed two bills to improve America's recycling and composting systems. But now, it's up to the House to pass these practical, bipartisan bills to reduce plastic pollution.
2. Renew the Farm Bill
The Farm Bill—the cornerstone of US agricultural policy—is one of our best chances to stop nature loss caused by our food systems. Congress has until the end of this year to renew the bill, and we're calling on lawmakers to invest in climate- and nature-smart agriculture.
3. Protect Forests
The FOREST Act is a key step to curbing global emissions and conserving the world's forests. This bipartisan legislation would require companies to trace where their products come from and confirm that they are legally produced. Ask your Member of Congress to protect forests by supporting the FOREST Act.
Why Your Participation Matters Right Now
The decisions our lawmakers make now will shape the future of our planet. Every message and action counts toward protecting nature and wildlife. Thanks in advance for taking action,
Sara
