Dear John,

Mariam Al-Mashwakhi is one of over 250 Palestinian elders in Gaza who has received COVID-19 information and protective supplies from AFSC in recent weeks. Mariam has lost most of her sight and hearing and has extreme difficulty moving without assistance. She remembers the work of AFSC and Quakers from when she was a child in 1948, when we responded to an urgent request from the United Nations to support displaced Palestinians in Gaza.

When our team delivered her assistance kit earlier this month, Mariam told us, “I consider your help to be a form of solidarity. I am happy that there are still people who think of us. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart.”

Today, we have a special opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of many more housebound elders in Palestine like Mariam. Join our matching gift challenge – and thanks to a generous donor, your gift will go twice as far, up to $5,000! Click here: [link removed]

Palestine’s health system was already in crisis before the pandemic—after 13 years of an Israeli blockade that has restricted access to healthcare and essential supplies. Today, Palestine has only 60 ventilators for over two million people.

As the coronavirus continues to spread across the region and the world, it’s critical to ensure elderly people have access to hygiene supplies – and to advocate for the rights of communities in Palestine to receive medical care without discrimination. AFSC has been on the ground in Palestine for decades, and this is our second year working with partners to provide relief to the elderly community.

Help provide access to critical supplies to slow the spread of COVID-19 for elder and impoverished Palestinians. A gift of only $95 helps AFSC deliver one hygiene kit to someone in need. And your gift in any amount also helps us advocate for the rights of communities in Palestine to receive medical care without discrimination. Click here: [link removed]

The funding provided by kind people like you will allow us to supply over 500 seniors in Gaza with essential virus protection items—such as liquid hand soap, soap bars, hand sanitizer, wet wipes, bleach, household cleaning materials, paper towels, laundry detergent, and face masks. These are items that they otherwise could not afford.

Let’s stand together as a global community to support Palestinians who need assistance at this difficult time. With your generous support today, AFSC can help meet basic needs.

Give today to support elderly and impoverished Palestinians, and your gift will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, up to $5,000. Click here: [link removed]

I truly appreciate your commitment to communities in Palestine and around the world in this time of pandemic. Together, we can lift each other up and help each other find the relief and support we need during these unprecedented times.

In peace,
