This is Chairman Jim Walsh. WAGOP recently launched the Project to Resist Tyranny in Washington State. This is a multi-front approach to pushing back against unlawful, unethical and unconstitutional actions of incoming Governor Bob Ferguson, State Attorney General Nick Brown, School Superintendent Chris Reykdal and Commissioner of Public Lands Dave Upthegrove.
Some of these fronts are legislative, some are media-focused but many of the most urgent are going to be in the courts.
WAGOP is committed to filing lawsuits that will protect our state’s elections, our state’s school kids, our state constitution and so many of the good things in this state. We’ve already started the Project to Resist Tyranny with lawsuits that challenge unlawful election practices and attempts to hide public information.

Lawsuits are expensive. And, given the political biases of many trial-court judges in Washington, WAGOP often has to appeal cases to higher courts in order to get a fair hearing. We don’t mind. We’re in this for the long haul. Please support our efforts.
Despite some early—and mistaken—media reports, Washington did vote a little “redder” in 2024 than it did in 2020. Just a little bit, though. WAGOP will build on this incremental improvement. But, for the next few years, lawsuits…what we call “good lawfare”…are going to be an important part of fixing what’s broken in our beautiful state. With good trial lawyers costing $500 or $600 an hour, WAGOP chooses its courtroom fights carefully.
Everyone knows how Bob Ferguson behaved during his years as State Attorney General. He’s anti-business, anti-cop and pro-criminal. He’s obsessed with Donald Trump. He needs to be kept in check. Occupying him in court is an effective way to do that. Help WAGOP keep Ferguson in check by contributing to the Project to Resist Tyranny and our courtroom “conservative lawfare” strategy today.
