Dear Friend,

With Congress back in session, I wanted to provide a legislative update on the work I am doing to advance commonsense, conservative policies to improve the lives of those not just in my district but across the country.

H.R. 7198; Prove It Act - PASSED

Under the Biden-Harris Administration, small businesses across the United States continue to struggle because of burdensome regulations, supply change issues, and inflation. The Prove It Act empowers American small businesses to support innovation and drive economic growth. This legislation also forces federal bureaucrats to consider the overall effect that government regulation has on small businesses before finalizing burdensome regulations.

H.R. 9598; Office of National Drug Control Policy Reauthorization Act - PASSED

The Office of National Drug Control Policy Reauthorization Act reauthorizes the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) and maintains critical grant programs working to keep drugs out of communities across the country.

H.R. 5349; Crucial Communism Teaching Act - PASSED

According to recent reports, more young people are holding a favorable opinion of the term “communism" and believe is a fairer system than capitalism. This legislation provides schools with a voluntary resource to prepare American high school students to be civically responsible adults by directing the Victims of Communism (VOC) Memorial Foundation to develop a civic education curriculum and resources that promote understanding of how communism conflicts with the principles of U.S. democracy.

Malign foreign actors continue to push a false narrative covering up the atrocities of past communist regimes, and it is evident that younger generations have been influenced by their propaganda.

In The News

Hunter Biden Pardon:

Last week, I joined Newsmax to discuss President Biden's unprecedented pardon of his son Hunter Biden. The scope of this pardon breaks precedent by making it retroactive for over a decade.

Discussing President-Elect Trump's Cabinet Picks:

One thing is clear; the American people are tired of bureaucrats running our country. This country was founded of the people, by the people, and for the people; not for unelected bureaucrats dictating everything in our daily lives. I applaud President Trump's picks to lead the Department of Education and Department of Health and Human Services to prioritize students over systems and to make America healthy again.

Addressing America's Failing Education System:

Image

Last week, the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) released their report on student proficiency in math and science. According to their report, test scores for American fourth graders in math dropped by 18 points and scores for eighth graders dropped 27 points.

These scores should be a wakeup call for both parents and students. We cannot continue to tolerate the status quo with failing schools, and I will continue to be an advocate for school choice both in Maryland and across the nation.
