I wanted to share with you a few details about our strong local performances in the election. While Republicans played offense nationwide, Democrats like yourself held the line here at home. We live in an R + 34 state, and against those strong Oklahoma headwinds, incumbent Democrats crushed it.
We retained all of our legislative seats. Across our targeted House races, challengers outperformed the increased Republican advantage by an average of 5.2 points! And we elected a Democratic mayor in Tulsa. In a year that Trump turned out more Republicans, our candidates had to work day and night to stay in the game. They delivered.
I specifically wanted you to see strong Democrats running well ahead of the national ticket. The future of resisting rightwing extremism from Washington is local. Self-funded radical Republicans poured millions of dollars into targeted attacks against Democratic incumbents. But they weren’t intimidated, they formed unique relationships with voters, and they WON by the incredible strength of their efforts.
