John,

While the pandemic has changed the way Congress is doing business,
Congress is still doing business ... and so is our Federal Affairs
team. Here's what our Federal Affairs team is working on right
now - thanks to your support.

Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF)

We were closer than ever to achieving full, dedicated, and
permanent funding for the LWCF before everything changed. COVID-19
slowed that momentum, but there's still a good chance we can get
legislation passed ensuring that this important conservation resource
is allocated the full $900 million it's entitled to every single
year, automatically.

Funding for Close-to-Home Parks

We are leading the effort to include a historic $500 million
investment in urban parks. It's critically important to advocate
for neighborhood park funding in communities around the country
because it will produce jobs, reduce inequity, and bring more open
space to the people and places that need them the most at a time when
the country is realizing that parks are a must-have, not a
nice-to-have.

Parks Departments

In the 2008 economic crisis, parks departments were the first to
experience significant budget cuts. We're supporting legislation
that would ensure park departments get the funding they need to
function during this time.

Trails

We're working to ensure that Transportation Alternative funds
are included in any transportation infrastructure legislation. These
funds help to build pedestrian and bike trails, safe routes to school,
and other green infrastructure.

Tomorrow was supposed to be The Trust for Public Land's Day
on the Hill, when our staff and supporters converge on Capitol Hill to
press the case for eco-friendly legislation. Like so many things
recently, Day on the Hill has moved into the virtual realm. So far,
4,000 Trust for Public Land advocates have spoken online with
Senators, Representatives, and their staff this week in an effort to
convince them to do the right thing.

You can join our delegation of change advocates united for an
eco-friendly future for public lands by making a tax-deductible
donation in support of The Trust for Public Land's vital work in
Washington, DC and across the country.

And now there's one more reason to give: our anonymous
patron has extended their match offer for a limited time and will
match your gift dollar for dollar. With the match, your donation will
be twice as large and do twice as much.

John, when this pandemic is behind
us, our parks and public lands will be crucial to our physical,
mental, and emotional recovery. I'm grateful for your support as
a supporter of The Trust for Public Land along the way. Please take a
moment now and make your special donation to help keep our public
lands safe and accessible.
