Email from Rep. Gonzales It's been a productive week in Washington! I will always fight for the people of TX-23 and deliver real solutions that strengthen our communities. TX-23 to Washington, D.C. It's always great to meet with constituents in my Washington, D.C. office. This week, I hosted Sabinal Mayor Erik Gomez to discuss local priorities. Thank you for stopping by! Making America Safe Again During the last four years, communities along the southern border have been ground zero for illegal immigration. These places have all been ravaged by the Biden administration's "American Last" agenda, which has led to the worst border crisis in our nation's history. As of July, there were more than 600,000 criminal aliens in the United States—including murderers and sex offenders. Our mandate is clear: we must make America safe again and send a clear message that our country is not a haven for the world's bad actors. Click the headline below to read my op-ed for Townhall. Honoring our Border Patrol Agents Earlier this year, my bill to rename the Uvalde Border Patrol Checkpoint in honor of fallen Border Patrol Agent James R. Dominguez passed in the House. Recently, the Senate passed my bill, and it will be signed into law. Agent Dominguez’s legacy will live on for generations to come. I am grateful for the support of Border Patrol leadership and Border Patrol Agents at the Uvalde Station, who worked alongside me every step of the way to make this memorial possible. Passing Critical Legislation Communism is a destructive political ideology that has cost hundreds of millions of lives across the world. This week, I proudly voted for the Crucial Communism Teaching Act to ensure that students learn about the dangers of this brutal ideology. I also voted for the Disabled Veterans Housing Support Act. This legislation will remove barriers to receiving housing assistance for veterans with service-related disabilities. I will always fight to ensure our heroes receive the benefits they deserve. Finally, I supported legislation to reauthorize the Office of National Drug Control Policy. Through this reauthorization, our law enforcement agencies have the tools they need to combat the drug epidemic in our communities. Follow @RepTonyGonzales on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
