Good afternoon, and welcome to our
Weekend Update.
On Saturday, we paused to recognize the
83rd anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor—a day that will forever
live in infamy. This defining moment in our history resulted in the
tragic loss of more than 2,400 Americans, all of whom made the
ultimate sacrifice for our country. We honor their memory and the
bravery and resilience that continue to define the enduring legacy of
the American spirit.
This week, I spent nearly an hour and a
half with Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to discuss their Department of
Government Efficiency (DOGE) plans. I asked questions and shared my
recommendations on rooting out waste, fraud, redundancies, and
unnecessary bureaucracy in the federal government. DOGE will prevent
the federal bureaucracy from becoming an unelected fourth branch of
government.
I look forward to working alongside DOGE
and my colleagues to make much-needed reforms to regain a limited
government. I joined “Varney and Co” on Fox Business to
discuss President Trump, Elon Musk, Vivek, DOGE, and our plans to cut
wasteful government spending. Click
here or below to watch.
I also want to thank Elon Musk for
highlighting my interview on Varney & Co. on X.
Before the meeting with Elon Musk and
Vivek, I joined “National Report” on Newsmax for an
interview. Click
here or below to watch.
On Saturday, I joined Newsmax
for an in-studio appearance to discuss DOGE, the Hunter Biden pardon,
and President Trump's push to get our federal workforce back to the
office. We also addressed the murder of the United Healthcare CEO, the
economy, and BItcoin reaching $100k.

I also want to thank Newsmax for
inviting me to join them in the studio. I appreciate their work in
delivering an unfiltered look at the news that matters.
With the spirit of cutting government
spending and the size of the bureaucracy in mind, I spoke strongly in
support of the Prove It Act on the House floor. This critical
legislation requires federal agencies to assess the true cost of their
regulations, including the direct and indirect burdens they impose on
small businesses. It empowers small businesses to challenge unfair
rules, promotes greater transparency, and helps limit the size of
government. Small businesses should be able to focus on expanding
operations, hiring workers, and serving their communities—not
navigating endless bureaucracy. Click
here or below to watch.
Check out my interview on The Rich Zeoli
Show on TalkRadio WPHT! We covered President Biden’s
egregious decision to pardon his son, Hunter, and how it erodes
Americans’ trust in the Justice System. I also shared why I joined the
House DOGE Caucus to help tackle wasteful government spending, and we
previewed Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy’s visit to Congress. Click

Shelley and I attended the annual
Pennsylvania Society events this weekend. I attended the Pennsylvania
Society Annual Dinner last night, where they honored Tom Hagan, the
Chairman and former CEO of Erie Insurance. Tom has lived an amazing
life and has been a respected civil and philanthropic leader in Erie
and Pennsylvania for over 60 years. During Governor Tom Ridge's
administration, Tom served as the first-ever secretary of the newly
created Department of Community and Economic Development. Tom also
co-founded the Team Pennsylvania Foundation, which works to accelerate
our Commonwealth's long-term economic future. The Erie Times wrote a
fitting tribute that was published this morning. I encourage you to click
here to read more about Tom and his many contributions to
Pennsylvania.
Members of the Northeast Leadership Group, including Louis
DeNaples, Bill Bracey, and Keith Eckel, joined me for dinner.
On Saturday morning, I was pleased to address the attendees of the
Pennsylvania Manufacturers Association at their annual seminar. I want
to thank the President and CEO of the PA Manufacturers Association,
David Taylor, along with Greg Bentley from Bentley Systems, for
inviting me to speak. I spoke of all of the strength the Trump
administration will bring to the United States national security and
the economy. That said, my concern is that Pennsylvania will be left
behind. Pennsylvania must be prepared and have plans to win and
compete in the competition of states. Pennsylvania needs a governor’s
office with the vision, plans, policy, and team to execute the same
way the Trump administration is prepared to deliver for the American
people. (Pictured below speaking and with Ambassador Carla
Sands)
On Friday night, I attended the Northeast Delegation Annual
Pennsylvania Society Reception, which Shelley and I cohosted. It was a
great event, and many amazing people joined us. Many were still
celebrating the great victories we enjoyed in November. (Pictured

Tabas, State GOP chairman, Conor Reardon from Trump Force 47, Thomas
Pietruczuk from Trump Force 47, and my friend Terry Casey)
IN NEWS YOU WON’T HEAR IN THE
MAINSTREAM MEDIA: A new
CBS News poll finds overwhelming support for President Donald J.
Trump's transition and agenda ahead of his inauguration in
January.
The results are in
line with other recent polls, which also found wide
backing for his performance.
Here's what you need to
know:
- More Americans than not approve of President Trump's top
cabinet nominees.
-
Americans overwhelmingly back President Trump's performance
during the transition. Nearly six in ten Americans say they
approve of how President Trump has handled his job performance as
president-elect.
-
Americans support President Trump's plan for mass deportations
of criminal illegal aliens. The policy is backed by
most independent voters and a strong majority of voters across every
age group — in line with other recent polls, which have consistently shown majority support
for this signature Trump policy.
-
Most Americans favor imposing tariffs on imported
goods. This widely touted proposal is a key
cornerstone of President Trump's Made in America
agenda.
- A plurality of Americans say President Trump will cause
food and grocery prices to go down.
This week, a Gallup Survey shows
President Trump's net favorability is "in
positive territory."Meanwhile, a recent
Gallup poll shows that President Trump's net
favorability exceeds that of the incumbent Biden by 17
points.
Gallup also shows Republicans are
viewed far
more favorably than Democrats. The Republican Party's
favorability aligns with its 22-year average, while the Democrat
Party's rating is 11 points below its average.
President Trump will take office in
January with an unprecedented
mandate, aided by massive swings among virtually all
demographics, following his resounding Electoral College and popular
vote wins.
It was great connecting with Bob Carl and
Sam Chivinski from the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce in Washington,
D.C. The Schuylkill Chamber is an extensive network of over 750 member
organizations dedicated to improving the quality of life and driving
economic growth in Schuylkill County and its surrounding areas.
At a
House Financial Services Committee hearing, it felt only right that
both parties donned bowties to honor Chairman Patrick McHenry. His
signature bowtie has become as much a part of his legacy as his
leadership—leadership that will continue to shape the financial
services industry for years to come. It was a bittersweet day, as this
marked his final hearing as Chairman before he hangs up the gavel at
the end of the month. You’ll be missed, Patrick McHenry!
We celebrated National Miners Day this
week. It is a day we recognize the hardworking miners across the
country—and right here in Pennsylvania—who power our nation with grit
and dedication. Let’s remember the miners of yesterday and salute
those carrying on the tradition today. If you know a miner, thank them
for their efforts to keep our homes warm and our lights on.
I received the 2024 Outstanding
Achievement Award from the Washington Coal Club alongside my fellow
Co-chairs of the Congressional Coal Caucus. Coal is deeply woven into
the fabric of Pennsylvania, supporting over 11,500 full-time jobs and
powering our state and economy. As a leading coal producer,
Pennsylvania generated nearly 48.4 million tons of coal in 2023—most
of it fueling the electricity that keeps our homes warm and our lights
on.
I will continue to work in Congress to
advance an all of the above, all of the below energy agenda and fight
against burdensome regulations that seek to stifle American energy
production.
Lastly, I want to congratulate
the Troy Trojans on their exciting victory in the 2024 PIAA 2A
Football Championship against Central Clarion! The final score was
25-24, making this the school’s very first football state title.
Congratulations to these impressive student-athletes!
It was a great football weekend for
Pennsylvania. Penn State is hosting a college football playoff game
against SMU. Saquon Barkley just scored for the Eagles, and the
Steelers are winning. Go Pennsylvania!
God Bless our great nation, God Bless our
Republican Party, and God Bless President Donald J. Trump. I look
forward to seeing you soon,
Dan
