Welcome to The Agenda (yea - THAT agenda), your weekly update on what's happening in the LGBTQ political world. Whatever you do, don’t forward it to Mike Pence. He doesn't need to know what we're planning! Forward it to a friend instead.

Overview: Barnstorming in Iowa, Gardner rightfully called to task and more!
FEEL THE PETE WAVE
It’s State Fair season in Iowa! And Presidential candidates are storming the state, shaking hands, kissing babies and chowing down.
Let’s not forget the speeches, like this one hosted by the Des Moines Register, can also help sway voters' opinions. Watch Mayor Pete’s Political Soapbox speech here.
Not content to end with speeches and glad-handing, Mayor Pete also introduced a new policy plan to help rural America, from improving high speed internet to addressing declining populations.
All the networking (and snacks!) pays off: there’s brand new polling out of Iowa: Mayor Pete is now in fourth place, with 13%.
HOME TO ROOST
After years of obstruction and refusing to act on gun violence, U.S. Senator Cory Gardner’s chickens are coming home to roost.
Spotlight candidate Dan Baer is calling on Gardner to account for his years of inaction and preparing to remove him from office.
Dan isn’t the only one calling Gardner to task – The Denver Post is calling for action.
Meanwhile, Giffords PAC is now running ads against Gardner and his failure to stop gun violence. Watch the full video here.

SHOT: BIGOTS, BIGOTS EVERYWHERE
Blame the summer heat – there’s a new wave of bigots on the loose.
Infuriated that Spotlight candidate Danica Roem won her first race, anti-LGBTQ groups have returned for her reelection and are funding her opponent.
In Memphis, a local radio host went on a homophobic tirade against Victory Fund candidate Davin Clemons. Why? Just because Davin’s gay. No other reason.
In New York, unnamed homophobes launched mailers against Victory Fund candidate Justin Carroll. Seems like this highly complimentary attack ad could backfire!
CHASER: STILL RUNNING
To end on a happy note: despite Kelly McGinn and her backers, Spotlight Candidate Danica Roem isn’t deterred. Attacks from anti-LGBTQ groups just make her more determined to win. Read Danica’s full interview with The Daily Beast here.
