Dear John,

The Local Peace Economy Team would like to invite your to a special "Learning Hour" conversation with  <[link removed]>Jodie Evans and Charles Eisenstein <[link removed]>.

The topic of the conversation will be on "Unlearning (a little ironic because we call these conversations "Learning Hours.")  But the concept of "Unlearning" could not be more crucial at this moment we find ourselves within.

The Local Peace Economy project is, at its heart, an attempt to encourage us all to unlearn habits, beliefs, and behaviors that the war economy has forced on us since we were children, and then to provide pivots so we can cultivate peace with the actions of our lives. These war-economy core behaviors run very deep, and no one is immune. They are forced on us by our parents, our schooling, and our culture; they are the water in which we swim.

These behaviors are so fundamental that as soon as we begin to reveal them, the validity of the whole system begins to collapse.  Where have these behaviors become the stories your life rests on, stories you hold on to so firmly that you believe the world will end if they are not true?  What would it take to let go of the stories that are destroying your life, the vibrancy of your community and the future of earth and co-create some new ones?

Charles Eisenstein has spent his life picking apart these war-economy stories and suggesting new stories that might fill their place. His many important books examine whole cultural systems and core beliefs. He illuminates the faulty core at the root of the war-economy: a misunderstanding of what it means to be human in an intertwined and interdependent world.

Of course, so many of you understand that our culture and our structures have, for many centuries, created a path that is leading us to a destructive and isolated end. How might we step off the path and cultivate something new? How might we together weave new stories that create the foundations for peace?

We hope you will join us this Friday, December 13th at 2 pm ET/11 am PT <[link removed]>for this special conversation.
