Good evening Young Democrats!

I hope you're doing well and staying healthy and safe.

During our last meeting, a number of members expressed interest in amending our bylaws to allow for the endorsement of non-Democrats. The executive board feels this is an issue that deserves to be discussed and explored fully; as such, we are convening SVYD's bylaw committee to give the matter full consideration.

The committee will meet on Friday, May 22nd, at 7pm, via Zoom; the meeting room can be accessed at that date and time using this link ([link removed]) . The committee will discuss whether endorsing non-Democrats should be an option for the club; if so, it will draft guidelines on the process of endorsing non-Democrats to be codified in our bylaws. Any proposed amendments will then be sent out to membership via email at least two weeks prior to our next general membership meeting, where membership will have the opportunity to vote on the proposed amendments.

I encourage all dues-paying members who are interested in participating in the committee to join us on the 22nd and have a voice in this discussion. As a reminder, in order to vote and join committees, members must have attended at least two meetings or SVYD events and paid annual dues since July 1, 2019.
