Have you filled out and mailed in your Tax Amazon petition?

Friends,

On Saturday over 200 people attended the third Tax Amazon Conference to discuss the state of the movement and the task of collecting 21,000 valid physical signatures for a tax on Amazon (and 799 other big businesses in Seattle) for Green New Homes.

There’s no sugar-coating it, we have a lot of work to do. It was reported at the conference that we’ve gathered 5000 online signatures. While this is important, unfortunately the State of Washington doesn't currently recognize digital signatures as valid signatures for getting initiatives on the ballot.

To get the needed 21,000 valid physical signatures, we’ll need each and every Seattle DSA member to do one of three things (or all three!):

Please fill out your petition, get everyone in your household to fill it out, and send it back to us. It arrived in your snail mail from Seattle DSA. Please mail it to us at 4245 S Raymond St, Seattle, WA 98118, where we’ll collect all Seattle DSA petitions and turn them in together.
Know people who would sign the petition, but can’t see them due to shelter-in-place? We’ll send the petition to them as well! Simply fill out this very short form. If every SDSA member signed and got 10 friends to sign as well, we could get 11,000 signatures, a huge contribution to the movement!
Attend the upcoming Tax Amazon for Green New Homes Committee Meeting and Phone Bank this Tuesday, May 19 at 5:30pm to get plugged into the campaign!

With the lockdown in place and the importance of observing social distancing guidelines, we will need to rely on other means to gather signatures and build our movement, like sending out more paper petitions by snail mail.

Can you chip in a donation to help mail out more petitions?
