John,
When Elon Musk took over X, he didn’t just buy a social media platform, he bought a megaphone for hate and disinformation that he’s unleashed without a care about the consequences.
From amplifying conspiracy theories to welcoming back banned extremists, X under Musk has become a danger to democracy. Yet corporations like Walmart, the NFL, and the Washington Post continue to line Musk’s pockets by advertising on this toxic platform.
X promotes disinformation and drowns out factual content, tearing apart the very foundation of informed civic engagement. Musk has not only reinstated accounts banned for inciting violence, but his leadership has directly caused a surge in hateful speech targeting marginalized communities. Advertisers choosing to fund this chaos are complicit in enabling the platform’s assault on democratic values.
We cannot afford to let this continue. Every ad dollar sent to X underwrites Musk’s mission to undermine truth and democracy. Walmart, the NFL, and the Washington Post must stop funneling money to this platform of hate.
It’s time to hold these corporations accountable. Demand they stop advertising on X immediately. Their dollars are fueling Musk’s hateful agenda and endangering democracy itself.
For years, platforms like X have been central to public discourse. Now, under Musk’s reign, it’s become a tool of manipulation and extremism.
Hate crimes against LGBTQ+ communities have surged, disinformation about the 2024 election ran rampant and lies about climate change are gaining traction. Musk profits from this chaos, and advertisers are enabling it.
Let’s make one thing clear: advertisers have the power to bring change. When major corporations walk away, they send a resounding message that hate and lies are not profitable.
It’s time for advertisers to stand on the side of democracy and truth, not disinformation and division.
Let’s remind Walmart, the NFL, and the Washington Post of their responsibility to uphold the values they claim to represent.
Let’s work together to dismantle Musk’s platform of hate.
