Dear John,
We’re in the final three weeks of the 118th Congress, and it was busy. Once again, I’m here to keep you updated on how I’m fighting to defend our shared conservative values.
As conservatives and God-fearing citizens, we must expose and stop taxpayer dollars that are funding abortion services. This is bigger than tax policy and government assistance—this is an issue of morality. As a co-chair of the Congressional Pro-Life Caucus and a staunch advocate for the rights of unborn babies, I joined more than 110 members of the United States Congress in a letter calling on the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to expose all federal funding given over the past three years to specific abortion providers. The numbers will undoubtedly be shocking, and that is exactly why I push for legislation that would not only defund Planned Parenthood but stop ALL federal funding to ANY abortion provider. Congress has a moral obligation to protect the unborn and promote a culture of life, and I am proud to be a part of that fight.
I’m pleased to support the bipartisan Rebuild America’s Health Care Schools Act of 2024, which protects federal funding for pharmacy and nursing residency programs essential to patient care. This legislation addresses harmful Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) policies that unfairly clawed back funding and imposed confusing requirements on hospitals and health systems, all of which disproportionately impacts rural healthcare needs. By clarifying the rules and requiring CMS to restore lost funding, this bill ensures residency programs can continue training the healthcare providers our rural communities rely on. I’m committed to passing this legislation to strengthen healthcare where it’s needed most—in rural communities like ours.
As a member of the Ways and Means Committee, I am working to protect the historic tax cuts that President Trump and Republicans delivered for hard-working families, small businesses, and farmers. But if Congress doesn’t act soon, these provisions will expire, raising taxes on middle-class Americans and undermining the economic gains we’ve made under President Trump. Families across Minnesota and the country cannot afford to see their tax bills go up—especially when inflation and higher costs are still a concern. We must not only make these tax cuts permanent but also expand them to supercharge growth, create jobs, expand the middle class, and return the United States to prosperity and greatness.
As always, please contact my office if you have any questions about my record or my votes, or if there is anything we can help with. Thank you for your continued support!
