For those of us who have been pushing for years for an end to Israeli occupation of Palestine and self-determination for the Palestinian people, we know that last month’s vote on Israeli arms sales was a high-water mark.

Just a few years ago, it would have been inconceivable that 19 Democratic senators would vote to block the sale of weapons to Israel’s occupying army.

The genocide in Gaza is a world-historic tragedy, but we must hold on to hopeful moments like this. The tide is turning, and one day in the not-so-distant future we will see justice, peace, and prosperity for Palestine.
