Hi John,

We’re thrilled to announce that Bishop Vashti McKenzie will be joining us for the 2025 AFL-CIO Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Civil and Human Rights Conference in Austin, Texas, and we hope you’ll join us too. If you haven’t secured your spot, register now.

Bishop McKenzie is the president and general secretary of the National Council of the Churches of Christ. In 2000, she became the first woman elected to episcopal office in the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church, and in 2005 became the first woman to serve as titular head of the AME Church.

She is a leader on labor and the issues surrounding the dignity of work, health and safety, the marginalized and protecting democracy. She is a leader of Faiths United to Save Democracy (FUSD), a nonpartisan, multiracial, multifaith and multigenerational voter protection campaign that mobilized in at least 1,000 voting sites across the country this past election. FUSD’s volunteers provided moral presence and vital support to voters, creating calm in the face of potential turbulence.

At this year’s conference, together with our faith allies and others, we will reckon with the urgency of this moment and build on the deep roots of solidarity to lead the fights ahead.

If you are looking to heal, connect and strengthen our movement, learn more about the conference and see what’s on the tentative agenda

Already signed up? We want to hear from you! Record your story about why you’ll stay committed in 2025 and beyond. You can do it from a smartphone, tablet or computer with a front-facing camera.

Together, we will plan the pathway forward—with the power of our members, our coalition and our community—to continue our historic organizing wins, take on corporate greed and rewrite the rules to expand our movement.

Learn more and reserve your spot at TheMLKConference.org

Join us in this historic place for the civil rights movement, as we come together to reflect, learn and fight.
