Africa & Europe
Pray for the lasting impacts of multiple trainings and capacity building activities carried out in Romania and Bulgaria last month, that these will lead to better victim identification and investigations of traffickers. These included trauma-informed trainings with judges, prosecutors and police officers, finalizing a manual for police officers and prosecutors on financial investigation, and creating a second manual for labor inspectors on identifying victims of trafficking.
Latin America
Praise God for a successful event organized by IJM El Salvador for members of the Public Justice System and other organizations. During the event, IJM presented our Protection Study that provides the Salvadoran authorities with crucial information on the prevalence of sexual and physical violence against children and women. With this information, the authorities will implement strategies to reduce the level of crime among people living in vulnerable situations and to help victims access the services provided by the justice system. Pray that God will guide the minds and hearts of the people in charge of making those decisions.
South Asia
Praise God for a new agreement signed between IJM and law enforcement in one of the states where we work. After nearly five years of collaboration to combat trafficking, we are now formally partnered to train local police, strengthen investigations and prosecutions, and monitor progress over time. Pray for ongoing momentum as we work together to stop traffickers and bring families to safety from forced labor.
Asia Pacific
Praise God for IJM’s involvement at the Freedom Forum Asia. This conference organized by the Philippine Interfaith Movement Against Human Trafficking (PIMAHT) aims to strengthen collaborative responses of faith leaders and faith-based networks against human trafficking in the region. The forum also gave three survivors of forced scamming a safe space to share their stories of courage and hope. Let us pray for a stronger commitment from all faith communities as we work alongside the government, NGOs and the business sectors to protect vulnerable people.
