Email from Tarrant County Republican Party Plus how you can help Trump's nominees   DONATE NOW to Help Win the Local Elections! Speaker's Race The Republican Caucus vote to select a House Speaker nominee is TODAY! In recent weeks Rep. David Cook has consolidated support not only from reform-minded members, who came together to endorse him several weeks ago, but from members thought to be closer to Dade Phelan. With this in mind, the vote is looking very good for Cook, and we will know before today is over who will be the Republican nominee. Yesterday, Phelan dropped out and was replaced with Dustin Burrows. He is a Phelan loyalist and would be no different than Phelan himself. Even if Rep. Cook wins the nomination, we can't let up pressure on our representatives until Cook is officially elected as the Texas House speaker. Here's why. It is possible that a few Phelan/Burrows loyalists could choose to vote for him during the official Speaker vote even with Cook as the Republican nominee; if Burrows can guarantee that a few loyalists plus the Democrats vote for him, he could still snatch the speakership from Cook. It's true that any reps who do this could face backlash in the primaries, but the damage would be done for at least the next two years, and Republican priorities would be killed for another legislative cycle. Here's another concern that not many people are talking about, which could potentially keep Rep. Cook from becoming Speaker, even if he wins the Republican nomination. Remember the recent US Senate Majority leader vote? It was a secret ballot. It is possible that, unless our representatives are proactive, Phelan/Burrows could force the Speaker vote to be a secret ballot. If Burrows gets a secret ballot for the Speaker vote, Republicans could cross over and vote for him without any repercussions from constituents. You might object and say that it is customary in the Texas House for this vote to be public, and you would be right - for recent sessions. It's still possible for the House to choose a secret ballot. It was customary until the 43rd session for the Speaker's race to be a secret ballot, and an attempt to bring that back was made in the 72nd. Phelan, Burrows, and their allies could try the same thing again, and our reps must do everything they can to prevent this. Presuming Rep. Cook wins the Caucus nomination today, you MUST keep the pressure on your representative to support him during the floor vote on the first day of session, and make sure they know you want a Record Vote. Local Officials and Deportations As Trump begins to prepare to take office, his mass deportation plan has been getting a lot of attention. Many liberal governors and mayors have signaled interest in fighting back against the deportations; Trump's Border Czar Tom Homan has said that he is willing to have officials prosecuted who violate the law by resisting the deportations. This begs the obvious question: how will our local officials react to Trump's plan? We reached out to Sheriff Bill Waybourn, who gave outspoken support for the plan and issued the following comment: "We currently have over 250 illegal aliens in custody, many for violent crimes against our citizens! They are waiting on final disposition of their case and then my friend Tom Homan will show them the door!" Our great Sheriff - who won his re-election with record numbers despite the biggest ever attempt by the liberals to unseat him - is squarely on the side of Trump and Homan, and is ready to support them. It remains to be seen how some of our local officials, especially in Fort Worth, will react. Time will tell. A Primary Challenger for Cornyn? President Trump's nomination fight has brought many people's attention to the Senate, and in Texas, to Senator Cornyn. It's no secret that the grassroots have been displeased with Cornyn for years - you may remember that Cornyn was booed off stage at the 2022 Republican Party of Texas Convention. Reports suggest that Cornyn has been noncommittal on a few of Trump's nominees, which could be enough to deny Trump his mandate. Many grassroots activists are rightly concerned. In response, there has been a large movement of activists calling for Attorney General Paxton to primary Senator Cornyn in 2026. Many activists with very large followings on X, including people like Scott Pressler, have vowed to assist Paxton in the campaign, should be run. It's not clear at the moment that Paxton will run against Cornyn - after all, we're still two years away from that election. There have even been calls by many in Tarrant County for our Chairman, Bo French, to primary Senator Cornyn himself. Help Get Trump's Nominees Confirmed! As we saw with Matt Gaetz, we need to apply incredible pressure to our Senators to ensure that President Trump's agenda is enacted by giving him the appointments he needs. Our friend Mike Davis from the Article 3 Project is helping lead the fight to confirm Kash Patel for FBI Director. Mike was a lawyer for the Senate Judiciary Committee and was crucial in many confirmation fights for President Trump. Kash Patel is the proven warrior that Trump needs as his next FBI Director. Kash has a long and proven track record and will help Trump dismantle the deep state. It is crucial that our Senators know that we want Kash to be confirmed. You can click HERE to tell our Senators to confirm Kash! Article 3 Project is also spearheading the effort to get Pete Hegseth confirmed for the Department of Defense. The liberals are working overtime to smear Hegseth and will do anything to keep him from cleaning DEI out of our military. You can click HERE to tell our Senators to confirm Pete Hegseth! Satanism Classes for Children If you're in a protesting mood, there will be a protest today of "Higher Purpose Emporium" in Fort Worth, a witchcraft store that has hosted LGBT witch pride events that were open to children, as well as satanism "classes" that are open to all ages. The group heading up the protest of this store is the Texas Coalition for Kids.   Share The Roundup with Friends!
