Did you know, John, that gifts from supporters like you throughout the 2024 Election had a tremendous impact in California swing seat results?
Thanks to you, we flipped three U.S. House districts from red to blue here in California. And we got 4 out of 6 of our total targeted seats!
But these races were never a sure thing. It was only possible because of grassroots support.
➜ In CA-27 , Democrat George Whitesides beat Rep. Mike Garcia. Mike Garcia has relentlessly held onto this district since a special election in 2020, but we were finally able to flip it blue. George Whitesides won by just over a narrow 2% margin. ➜ In CA-45 , Democrat Derek Tran defeated Rep. Michelle Steel. At the start of the campaign, many pundits didn’t think we had a chance in this district. We proved them wrong when Derek Tran won his seat by a margin of 653 votes. ➜ And we just got word that in CA-13 , Democrat Adam Gray has won over Rep. John Duarte. This was a rematch of one of 2022’s closest races, and (you won’t believe this) the margin of victory for Adam Gray was a mere 187 votes. [[link removed]]
John — These were the districts we emailed you about over the last year, telling you that we had a chance to win. Time and time again, you stepped up and responded with support. Now, we have these victories because of you.
At the same time, we also defended numerous vulnerable Democrats in swing seats. Democratic U.S. House incumbents did not lose a single seat across the state.
We know the result of the Presidential election was demoralizing and devastating. We understand, and we feel it too.
But please do not let the takeaway of this election be that your support didn’t matter. It did matter. It mattered in a huge way. Simply put, without grassroots donations and organizing, these results in California would’ve been impossible. Period. End of story.
We have spent the last month running way over budget so we could keep funding our operations in all of the too-close-to-call districts.
