“For 24 hours every month, I hate my family,” writes Vanessa Kroll Bennett today. “Two days later my period arrives. At which point, I am relieved because it means I didn’t actually hate them, it was just my period. This happens EVERY SINGLE MONTH. I have been menstruating for 35 years. You’d think I’d get the hang of this period thing by now.” But, as it turns out, she’s still adjusting to her body. And now as her teen daughter embarks on her journey, Vanessa is learning to suss out what it all means and how she can teach her daughter to really know her body. A lot of us are in that age where our kids are becoming teens, and there’s a lot of soul-searching going on as a result. Add this to the list. |
