Email from Rep. Van Duyne I'm working to slash regulations and lower costs for families...   Washington, D.C. - I began my week in Irving meeting with North Texans from U.S. Bancorp to discuss my legislative agenda for the new year, AI and healthcare innovations, as well as my work to extend and expand the 2017 Trump Tax Cuts. Wednesday, I met with Andrew Williams, the regional CEO of DHL -- a leading global logistics firm with a strong presence in our area. We discussed opportunities to make the Customs process more efficient and my work on the Ways and Means Committee to expand access to trade. Later, I spoke with leaders in the biomedical field to discuss my work to empower innovators to create a healthier future for North Texans. Thursday, I met with Texas-24 resident, Loreen Gilbert, from LPL Financial to discuss Small Business Administration rules that prevent small businesses from accessing capital. I appreciated hearing her perspective on the need to extend the 199A small business deduction from the 2017 Trump tax cuts that have helped North Texas businesses create jobs and reinvest in our communities. After, I had a powerful discussion with Rick Desai about Hinduphobia and the weaponization of the Department of Justice by this administration. I'm working to stop the weaponization of federal agencies that has targeted law-abiding citizens. I also had the chance to meet with Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to discuss the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and opportunities to work together to end wasteful, mismanaged programs and rein in federal overreach. This week, I voted to pass the bipartisan Prove it Act which will improve transparency of federal agencies and give small businesses a larger voice in the regulation process to prevent future burdensome and costly regulations. Texas-24 Work of the Week As a member of the Delivering Outstanding Government Efficiency (DOGE) Caucus, I’m working to identify opportunities to rein in government overreach. That's why I joined my colleagues in asking President Trump to end the Internal Revenue Service’s “Direct File” scheme — a nationwide tax program created without authorization from Congress that would give the IRS more power to collect and store private data. Texas-24 Hometown Hero This week's Texas-24 Hometown Hero is Collin County Deputy Constable Omar Abuabara for his courage after a gunman opened fire at Allen Premium Outlets.
