Two U.S. Patriot batteries will remain at Prince Sultan airbase, about 80 km south of the capital Riyadh. The Saudis will deploy their Patriot Advanced Capabilities-3 (PAC-3) batteries to the eastern province of the kingdom to replace the U.S. systems. On Wednesday, it was reported the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) will conduct a capability test on its newest Aegis destroyer, the JS Maya (DDG-179). The JS Maya was commissioned in March and the capability test is required within the first year after it is commissioned. Tests will include maneuverability in rough weather conditions and try outs of the armaments and equipment on the ship. Also on Wednesday, MDAA hosted a virtual roundtable discussion on the “Future of Command and Control.” Topics included the future of the Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2), the Air Force’s Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS), and the Missile Defense Agency’s Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC).
