Dollar General, Dollar Tree, and Family Dollar — the top three U.S. discount chains — were aware for at least eight years that products like cookware and toys in their stores contain toxic chemicals, which are potentially linked to cancer, reproductive harm, and learning disabilities.
While these stores claim to have restricted some chemicals, they have failed to transparently report ongoing progress to date and refused to work with suppliers to eliminate harmful chemicals from all of the products on store shelves.
In general, dollar stores predominantly serve communities of color and low-income communities that are already disproportionately exposed to chemical hazards and health effects linked to chemical exposures.
NRDC has partnered with the Campaign for Healthier Solutions to help solve this nationwide problem — and you can help.
