How does the 300th anniversary of the creation of the Russian
Academy of Sciences (February, 1724) intertwine with the upcoming
250th anniversary of the American Revolution?
Tonight’s Symposium guests will include EIR's Bill Jones, who
recently moderated a forum at the Russian Cultural Center in
Washington DC, which focused on the anniversary of the creation of the
Russian Academy of Sciences by Peter the Great and Gottfried Leibniz
in 1724. The Russian Cultural Center event presented the major work of
Mikhail Lomonosov (1711-1765) -- the "Father of Russian Science" --
and discussed the campaign to rebuild Lomonosov's famous physical
chemistry laboratory on its original site in St. Petersburg. The
discussion also noted Lomonosov's interest in Ben Franklin's work on
electricity and magnetism. Bill will be joined by LaRouche
Organization vice-president Chris Sare, who has researched the
importance of Ben Franklin's international network of scientists, and
the relation of Franklin's network and the success of the American
Revolution.
Note that the importance of Science and Culture will also be the
topics of the Sunday sessions of the upcoming December 7th and 8th
Schiller Institute conference, "In the Spirit of Schiller and
Beethoven: All Men Become Brethren!" Click on the box below to view
