Pennsylvania is one of only seven states in the entire country that votes for judges and justices in partisan elections.
November 2025, voters in PA will have the power to elect judges or remove judges and justices for the bench in nonpartisan retention election voting. Three PA Supreme Court Justices will likely be on the ballot for retention voting next Fall.

Iowa Sues Biden Administration Over Noncitizen Voting Data
Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird (R) and Secretary of State Paul Pate (R) sued President Joe Biden’s administration, alleging that it is refusing to hand over the citizenship status information of over 2,000 registered voters on the state’s voter rolls.
Missouri Judge Upholds Strict Photo ID Requirements for Voting
“Missouri Judge Jon E. Beetem upheld the state’s strict photo ID requirements for in-person voting after finding the new rules do not violate the Missouri Constitution’s guarantee of the fundamental right to vote.
Monday’s decision comes just over a year after Beetem held a trial in a lawsuit brought by the League of Women Voters of Missouri, Missouri NAACP and three voters who alleged the burdensome identification rules infringe on the right to vote and the right to equal protection. The groups have already indicated their plan to appeal the decision in the near future.”
Missouri Judge Strikes Down Four Provisions of Voter Suppression Law
“The decision came as part of a 2022 lawsuit filed by the League of Women Voters of Missouri and Missouri State Conference of the NAACP, which went to trial this summer. Among the now-invalidated provisions of H.B. 1878 were a prohibition on compensating individuals who solicit voter registration applications and a requirement that uncompensated individuals who solicit more than 10 voter registration applications must register with the secretary of state. ”

| We are getting more creative about where to meet Pennsylvanians on the ground to discuss why it is important to check your registration status and make sure you can cast a vote in the primary elections.
PA is a closed primary state. This means you need to be registered with one of the two major political parties if you want to vote for candidates in the primary election. Our staff is encouraging folks to check their registration status and make updates if necessary. |
