Dear John,
This week, our suspicions about the weaponization of our federal government were confirmed.
Despite repeatedly pledging not to do so, President Joe Biden, weeks before leaving the White House, pardoned his son, Hunter Biden, for "offenses against the United States."
The irony is that when these charges were first brought, President Biden claimed that his political opponents were targeting Hunter because he was his son. He referred to the prosecution as "a miscarriage of justice."
President Biden claimed the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) was being weaponized against him and his family. In reality, he and his administration have weaponized the DOJ against Christians and conservatives for the past four years.
The Biden administration has repeatedly used the DOJ to target its ideological opponents. One of the clearest examples of this is the targeting of pro-life activists.
This year, it was revealed that 97 percent of FACE Act prosecutions since 1994 (when the law was passed) have been against pro-lifers.
The FACE Act prohibits individuals from blocking the entrances to abortion facilities and pro-life pregnancy resource centers alike. But the Biden administration has unequally enforced the law, charging pro-lifers for peacefully protesting outside abortion facilities while taking little action to punish those who vandalized pregnancy resource centers after the Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization U.S. Supreme Court decision came out in June 2022.
Similarly, a recent report revealed that nearly 70 percent of enforcement actions taken by the U.S. Department of Education under Biden were targeted at Christian or faith-based schools.
These heavy-handed actions stink of partisanship.
In February 2024, FRC published our second annual Hostility Against Churches Report. We identified 436 hostile incidents against churches in 2023--more than double the number identified in 2022 and more than eight times the number identified in 2018. Sadly, these threats to religious liberty went almost unchecked, as the DOJ was busy locking up pro-life protestors and suing the state of Texas to stop interfering with the open border.
As we head into a new presidential administration and Congress, FRC resources like our Hostility Against Churches report will be critical for educating policymakers on issues that affect your family and community.
Thanks to your generosity, we exceeded our Giving Tuesday goal! But now we must meet a significant budget goal of $4 Million in order to be fully resourced for the year ahead. Will you partner with us to stand for life, family, and religious freedom in 2025?
As a sign of FRC's appreciation for your gift, we'll send you our new digital resource, "The Real St. Nicholas," for you and your family to enjoy this Christmas season!
SHINE THE LIGHT WITH FRC
Unfortunately, the federal government isn't the only entity that has been weaponized against Christians and conservatives.
The mainstream media and Big Tech have also been weaponized to silence viewpoints that do not adhere to or parrot the Left's ideological agenda.
This summer, Mark Zuckerberg admitted to the House Judiciary Committee that in 2021, the Biden-Harris administration asked Meta to "censor" content ranging from the COVID-19 pandemic to the contents of Hunter Biden's laptop.
While the Biden administration asked for explicit censorship in that instance, the mainstream media and Big Tech don't need a lot of prodding to be willing to silence or disregard conservative viewpoints.
Just look at what happened during the ABC presidential debate.
Shockingly but not unpredictably, one of the moderators incorrectly claimed (with Vice President Harris' assent) that there is no state where it is legal to kill a baby after birth. In response, FRC's President Tony Perkins took to X pointing out how "In 12 states, children born alive after a failed abortion have no legal protection, and in three more states children born alive after an abortion had legal rights that governors--like Tim Walz--repealed."
What happened next was, unfortunately, not satire. PolitiFact, a purportedly independent fact-checking outlet, slapped a "false information" tag on the post.
Rather than do their own research and actually look at FRC's Pro-Life Maps that clearly show the lack of born-alive protections in these 12 states, PolitiFact ignored the truth.
These examples of censorship and incorrect "fact-checking" are exactly why FRC is working to fill the gap for reliable news and information left by the mainstream media. Through our award-winning Washington Watch broadcast, The Washington Stand news outlet, and the new-this-year Stand Firm app, we are shining the light of biblical truth into the darkness perpetrated by the mainstream media.
As we head into the Christmas season, we need to meet a critical $4 Million budget goal. Can we count on you to partner with us in this critical work? If you give between now and December 31, your gift will be doubled thanks to a generous 2x Challenge Match.
DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT
And, to thank you for your gift, we'll send you our new digital resource, "The Real St. Nicholas," to enjoy with your family and keep your eyes on the true reason for the season: Jesus.
Although the Biden-Harris administration is ending, as we have seen, the old guard is not going quietly.
Despite the almost certain hijinks that the Left is planning before it becomes the minority power in Washington, D.C., we have no need to fear. Instead, let us focus on the powerful truth found in Matthew 1:23, "Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel" (which means, God with us)."
As we reflect on Jesus' first coming this Christmas season, let us be found working diligently as faithful servants, celebrating His love, and looking forward to His return with joy and perseverance.
We pray you will join FRC as we continue defending the faith for the remainder of 2024 and prepare for the important work to come in 2025.
