FUNDING OPPORTUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT: B2E2 Environmental Drought Mitigation Projects with water savings in the Upper Colorado River Basin
Good morning all, We have recently learned of a new Funding Opportunity through the Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) (using the same RFA as Bucket 2E), also known as “B2E2”. It was announced at CRWUA on December 3rd, and the BOR will host a public webinar on December 11th to answer questions. The deadline for applications is January 10th and therefore we want to get this information to you as quickly as possible. As this new Funding Opportunity is still under the Bucket 2E, the criteria for an application are still the same. In other words, your project must still fit the criteria below, and as listed in the RFA to be eligible. Bucket 2E project criteria: Types of eligible projects that restore ecosystem and habitat of plants, animals, or fish that were impacted by drought include but not limited to:
The requirement for the B2E2 subset is for projects with ecological benefits and water conservation efforts. To be clear, the water conservation must result in the environmental benefits listed above. The work necessary to complete the conservation work will be funded by the BOR; however, the water saved will not be compensated (e.g., as it is in the SCPP). The water conservation portion of the application will not be evaluated by the BOR, only the proposed benefits of the project with regard to the ecological criteria listed above will be evaluated. In addition, the BOR will not require verification of the conserved water actions or volumes. The B2E2 proposals will only be evaluated against other B2E2 projects and not the B2E projects that were due on November 22nd.
Please review the documentation below from the BOR and join them for an informational webinar on December 11th at 11:00 AM at the following link: https://bor.webex.com/bor/j.php?MTID=m5203af48267faf7379c10edccd728eb2
This is a little confusing and moving very quickly, so please feel free to reach out to Jeff Cowley ([email protected]) if you have any questions,
