John, it’s Eugene.
I want to make sure you saw my email from last week. Tulsi Gabbard is a danger to our democracy, and her appointment to director of national intelligence is irresponsible and dangerous to our national security and the future of our democracy.
Before Senate confirmation hearings begin, I want to make sure our concerns and voices are heard.
Read more about my thoughts on Tulsi Gabbard’s appointment below.
Eugene
John,
Over the past few weeks, we have seen Trump appoint several irresponsible and unqualified people to serve in his cabinet. Many of his choices concern me and risk the future of our democracy, and Tulsi Gabbard is at the top of that list.
Trump tapped Gabbard as the director of national intelligence — a powerful position that acts as the president’s top intelligence adviser and leads the nation’s spy agencies.
I’ll be clear: Tulsi Gabbard has a checkered history including peddling conspiracy theories and cozying up to dictators such as Bashar Al-Assad and Vladimir Putin. She is unfit to serve as director of national intelligence. This appointment is irresponsible and dangerous.
The Senate has a constitutional duty to consider these nominees and reject those whose qualifications are not exemplary and whose commitment to U.S. national security interests is not ironclad. Our standing on the world's stage depends on it.
The Senate must do its due diligence and reject Gabbard's appointment.
Thank you in advance for adding your name, and joining me in defending our democracy from threats domestic and foreign.
