Friend, if we want to maintain a robust, accessible democracy in the face of the COVID-19 crisis -- this is our moment to act.
On Friday, the House passed the HEROES Act -- a stimulus bill with ample funding for secure and accessible elections, a strong Postal Service, an accurate 2020 Census, and more. But Mitch McConnell will try to cut all of that out -- and we can’t let him.
Tell the Senate now: protect our right to be heard! Fully fund our democracy during the COVID-19 pandemic >>
The HEROES Act allocates the resources we need to make sure nobody loses their right to be heard during this public health crisis.
But now, it’s the Senate’s turn to sign off on this funding. And with Mitch McConnell at the helm -- who’d rather put the money toward no-strings-attached corporate giveaways -- it’ll be a tough fight.
That’s why we need an outcry from everyday Americans nationwide, calling on lawmakers in both parties to step up for our democracy -- and pass a stimulus package that includes:
- $3.6 billion for secure, accessible elections -- with expanded vote-by-mail, extra early voting hours, online voter registration, and more
- Funding to save the U.S. Postal Service, a lifeline for millions of Americans
- Increased 2020 Census funding to ensure communities get the representation and resources they deserve
- Funding for broadband expansions to help employees, students, and families stay connected
Don’t let the Senate deny our democracy the resources it needs to survive this public health crisis. Demand your senators vote for a strong, comprehensive HEROES Act.
If you believe that the Senate must do what’s right for our democracy -- while simultaneously ensuring public health and strengthening our economy -- I hope you’ll join me in speaking out today.
Thanks for all you do,
