I've been hard at work during this special legislative session to make sure all Louisianians are kept safe and healthy at this critical time. As your State Representative for District 91, I also know a thing or two about how important elections are — especially when it comes to making sure everyone has access to safely and easily exercise their right to vote.
The safest way we can protect all Louisianians is to expand Vote By Mail to everyone statewide, with no restrictions. My bill, HB 419, would do just that — and I need your help to ensure it passes committee tomorrow.
Louisiana already allows some voters to vote by mail through absentee ballots, but under the Secretary of State's Emergency Voting Plan, a voter caring for a loved one who is at risk of contracting COVID-19 is not eligible to vote by mail. Health experts across the country have warned that the threats of this virus are nowhere near gone — and we need to take every step we can to protect Louisianians now.
30+ states are allowing all their voters to vote by mail. Let's not be the last state to extend Vote By Mail to ALL voters!
