Pro-Life TDs: Ken O'Flynn, Carol Nolan, Paul Lawless
It's wonderful to be able to report that there will be more pro-life TDs in the incoming Dáil than were elected last time round in 2020.
Among the newly elected pro-life TDs are Paul Lawless of Aontú and Ken O'Flynn of Independent Ireland.
In total, 32 TDs who have publicly declared pro-life positions (and/or have pro-life voting records) were elected to the new Dáil.
And in another sign that voters are very comfortable supporting pro-life candidates, several well-known pro-life TDs topped the poll in their respective constituencies, including Mattie McGrath, Carol Nolan, Michael Collins, Sean Canney, Michael Healy-Rae, John McGuinness and Michael Fitzmaurice.
It was great as well to see TDs with a pro-life voting record from the main political parties re-elected.
All of these successes are grounds to be hopeful for the future.
And many more pro-life candidates, including Aontú's Sarah O'Reilly and Ellen Troy came close to being elected. They are now very well positioned to take seats next time out.
Attention has also been drawn to the fact that the outgoing Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly (who relentlessly pushed abortion) and pro-euthanasia campaigner Gino Kenny both lost out on being re-elected.
All in all, the pro-life wins from the election deserve to be celebrated. After the devastating result of the 2018 abortion referendum and its aftermath, it's a terrific boost to see incremental progress finally being made and the seeds being sown for more gains down the line.
Following last week's election, there is now a sufficiently strong pro-life presence in the Dáil to push for changes focussed on reducing Ireland's soaring abortion rate. The incoming government, regardless of its final composition, cannot ignore the horrors taking place under the new abortion law.
Thanks to the pro-life TDs who ran for office and the individuals who worked so hard to get them elected, the political conditions now exist for positive changes to occur.
Every pro-life supporter has a part to play in making sure we embrace wholeheartedly the opportunity that now lies before us.
One final and important point. A sincere word of thanks to all the pro-life candidates who put their names forward on this occasion but did not get elected. We are truly grateful for the sacrifices and efforts you made in standing up for life. Tá súil againn go n-éireoidh libh an chéad uair eile.

Robbie Williams and Nicole Appleton
** Robbie Williams says coerced abortion ‘tore’ him apart
------------------------------------------------------------
Robbie Williams has disclosed that his former fiancée, pop singer Nicole Appleton was pressured by music industry bosses into aborting their unborn child in the 1990s.
The British music star has been talking openly about the tragedy as the new biopic about his life, "Better Man," features a section about the abortion, which was included with Appleton’s permission.
Williams is extremely critical of his own role in what happened. While he had no part in coercing Appleton to abort their baby, he said he deeply regrets not doing more to stop the music executives from pressuring her into ending the baby’s life.
In an interview ahead of the biopic premiere, Williams said: "She was made to have an abortion of our child; it’s rough and triggering. This thing about Nic is the most difficult bit of the film for me.”
“Everybody else in the movie — they did something bad and I don’t mind throwing them under the bus. But when it comes to Nic, I was the person that did the bad thing — not talking about her getting an abortion. I didn’t do that,” he said. “But she’s wonderful, kind and brave and wants her part of the story shown.”
Appleton herself has been open about the abortion in the past and about her regret for having gone through with it.
She even claimed the experience left her suicidal. “I couldn’t believe what I had done,” she said. “I wanted to kill myself.”
Williams said the experience at the time “tore” him apart. Talking about the decision to feature the story in the new biopic, he said: "Hopefully this is a healing experience for me — and for her because she didn’t deserve the version of me that she got back then. I feel great shame that I didn’t represent myself in the best way because she deserves the best, and didn’t get it.’
