G’day John,
Well, the final hoorah of parliament for the year was flat chat.
The government tried to ram through a heap of bills on the last day. In the end, the Senate passed 45 bills, including the Help to Buy Bill 2023, which the Greens held up for almost a year.
Thanks to all of you, Labor’s electoral reforms have been shelved until the new year.
We win big fights together.
Over the two weeks, I gave 18 speeches covering the cost of living crisis, veterans, the Chinese Communist Party and Australian manufacturing. I also moved 10 motions, which called out the government’s lack of transparency and the threat of terrorism in Australia.
The cost of living crisis is hitting Australian families hard, but it feels like both the major parties are more interested in politicking than listening to the people who are doing it tough. No wonder people trust them less and less.
We win big fights with the help of all of you. If you can help us stand up for what’s right, we would appreciate a donation.
I’m back in Tassie, zigzagging all over the place and catching up with locals and community groups, so if you’re in Tassie, keep an eye out.
You’ve probably heard the election will likely be sooner rather than later. Elections are hard yakka – especially trying to stack up against the major parties.
If you are able to pitch in to give us a hand, I would appreciate it.
