Texas Values Protects Your Right to say "Merry Christmas"!
|
The Merry Christmas Texas project empowers public schools and individuals to use their constitutional rights to freely acknowledge and educate students about Christmas.
In 2013, Texas Values led the efforts to pass the Merry Christmas Law (H.B. 308) to protect the religious liberty of children, parents, teachers, and school staff to acknowledge Christmas without fear of censorship, persecution, or litigation. The Merry Christmas Texas project was launched shortly after to continue to spread awareness on this First Amendment right.

Supreme Court Ruling Could Impact Texas Law!
|
Texas Values joined 10 other state policy councils in submitting a legal amicus brief to the Supreme Court in U.S. v. Skrmetti, an appeal challenging a Tennessee statute enacted to protect children from life-altering surgical and chemical sex-change methods pushed by radical LGBT groups nationwide. Read the brief here. Texas Values President and Attorney Jonathan Saenz, who was present in Washington D.C. during oral arguments yesterday, released the following statement:
"This is a simple case about protecting children from harmful and dangerous attempted "sex-change" mutilation and sterilization methods. All children deserve the opportunity to grow up healthy and whole. The outcome of this case could impact Texas, but we're confident the Supreme Court will protect kids and allow the Tennessee law to stand."

Special Guest State Representative and Republican Caucus Chair, Dr. Tom Oliverson! |
Jonathan Covey Policy Director at Texas Values, discusses the upcoming Speaker of the House vote and the current US Supreme Court Case with Special Guest State Representative, Dr. Tom Oliverson!
"You don’t treat mental health conditions with these drugs because you’re not actually treating the underlying condition."
"Some doctor or some therapist looked them in the eye and said you can either have a live daughter or a dead son…and the literature never showed that, that was an unbelievable, unmitigated flat out lie, it was medical malpractice! We wanted to make sure in Texas that people who uttered that kind of foolishness never practice medicine ever, ever again in our state."~ Dr. Tom Oliverson |

Legislators are about to pick the next Speaker of the Texas House! |
Like many others, Texas Values has been troubled with the past actions of current Speaker Dade Phelan. We support having a new Texas House Speaker. Rep. David Cook is running against the current speaker and has pledged significant conservative reforms in the Texas House if elected Speaker. Texas Values hosted a panel on the Texas House Speaker's race during our annual policy conference in September, #TexasFaithFest. Learn more about the race and selection process from this exciting panel!
