Violence is surging in northern Syria. Airstrikes are killing civilians and destroying critical infrastructure like schools, hospitals, and bakeries. Tens of thousands of people from Aleppo, Idleb, and surrounding areas have fled their homes with little to no belongings as winter weather approaches. This is a crisis within a crisis. Renewed conflict is compounding the humanitarian emergency that has existed for more than a decade. The infrastructure in Northwest Syria’s displacement camps is already overstretched. An influx of new arrivals will push limited resources past capacity, threatening to leave thousands without essential support. Mercy Corps teams are working to scale up aid in northern Syria to meet this moment. Rush your gift to help families caught in conflict and disaster in Syria, Gaza, Sudan, and beyond.
Mercy Corps has worked in Syria since 2008, providing water, food, shelter, sanitation services, and livelihood assistance to families who are displaced. Here, our team works with local partners to install water tanks following last year’s devastating earthquakes.
Our team members report that bakeries are running out of flour, and access to clean water is becoming increasingly limited, leaving families at greater risk of dehydration and waterborne diseases as conditions deteriorate. Please, can you contribute to this critical emergency response with a gift that will support our humanitarian teams in Syria and 40+ countries around the globe? We’ll have more updates on this rapidly developing situation soon. Thanks for your generosity in this time of need. The Mercy Corps team |
