REPORT: Jewish and Israeli Americans Face Discrimination in the Job Market
Jewish American job candidates needed to send 24 percent more applications to receive the same number of positive first responses from prospective employers as Americans with Western European backgrounds when applying for the same job, according to a

new ADL study. Further, Israeli Americans needed to send 39 percent more applications, indicating substantial discrimination.

This groundbreaking evidence reveals that Jewish and Israeli Americans may be missing out on job opportunities just because of their identity, not their qualifications. The ADL-sponsored study, independently conducted by leading labor economist Dr. Bryan Tomlin, illustrates the very real need for employers to take anti-Jewish and anti-Israeli prejudice seriously in order to have a workplace that works for everyone.

Islamist Terror in the U.S.: Islamist extremist terror incidents targeting the United States increased in 2024 after several years of reduced activity, according to a new ADL evaluation. Federal and state authorities have arrested individuals in seven different incidents on charges related to five unsuccessful plots and two actual attacks in the past year. At least three of these incidents targeted Jewish or Israeli individuals, institutions or businesses. As Oren Segal, VP of the ADL Center on Extremism explained: “In this year, which has been marked by support for and glorification of terrorist organizations at anti-Israel demonstrations across the country, the increase in
terrorist plots and attacks serves as a stark reminder of the persistent threat posed by these groups and their ideologies.”

WATCH: The ‘Jew-Hunt’ Pogrom in Amsterdam and Beyond: It Could Happen Here: In a compelling event that took place earlier this week at The Temple Emanu-El Streicker Center in NY, ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt and New York Times columnist Bret Stephens delved into the alarming rise of antisemitism in Europe. They explored the double standards at play and shared insights on how leaders can effectively protect communities from the growing threat of extremism. As Stephens keenly noted about those double standards: “The longest anti-colonial struggle in history is Zionism.”

The Future Will Need More People Like Rabbi Kogan: In a joint op-ed by ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt and Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, a UAE official and Chairman of the Manara Center, they wrote eloquently that:
This past year has tested the resolve of peacemakers everywhere. The horrific murder of Rabbi Zvi Kogan in the UAE this past weekend was a stark reminder of the threats we face. Rabbi Kogan’s brutal kidnapping and killing was not just a brazen act of terrorism perpetrated against the Jewish community; it was an attack on the vision of coexistence, on the whole Emirati community and those who reside within its soil. … Rabbi Kogan’s legacy will endure as a beacon of hope, guiding us in our efforts to build bridges, counter hatred, and stand united against extremism.

Itay Svirksy z"l was a psychology student & lover of jiu-jitsu. Abducted by Hamas from Kibbutz Be'eri on 10/7, Itay was killed in captivity & pronounced dead in January. Today, the IDF recovered his body from Gaza. He can now be buried alongside his parents, also murdered by Hamas. May his memory be a blessing.

We’re heartbroken to learn that American-Israeli hostage Omer Neutra z”l was murdered by Hamas on 10/7 and his body dragged into Gaza. Our thoughts are with his family, who have been fighting tirelessly to #BringThemHome. May Omer’s memory be a blessing.

It’s bewildering that mainstream media outlets continue to platform Hasan Piker, an influencer whose toxic screeds against Zionism and the Jewish state normalize antisemitism, reinforce bigotry, and launder terror. Piker recently used his Twitch stream to celebrate the fact that one-third of Jewish American teens reportedly sympathize with Hamas. In the last six months, Piker repeatedly celebrated the Houthis and inexplicably compared these vicious terrorists to Holocaust victim Anne Frank. @ADL already has engaged Twitch on these issues and the company has taken some steps to address antisemitism on their service, such as recognizing that the term “Zionist” can be
weaponized as a slur, but it’s staggering that the company has failed to take steps to turn off Piker's firehose of hate.

We’re horrified by more anti-Jewish violence in Europe, this time in a Dublin nightclub where a student was assaulted, allegedly after suspects noticed him wearing a Star of David. We hope authorities find those responsible & hold them to the rule of law.
