Hi John — before I ask you to support my team and I during a crucial period of securing our democracy before a second Trump presidency, I wanted to make sure you heard about MAGA Republicans' latest attack on our rights:

News outlets are calling this latest bill the "non-profit killer" because it gives the US Treasury the power to label a non-profit as a "terrorist supporting organization" and revoke its tax-exempt status, all under the guise of "national security".

On the first vote, over 140 Democrats, including myself, saw this for what it really was: a blatant attempt to control organizations standing up to Trump's extremist agenda and a horrific attack on our right to free speech.

And we immediately saw why MAGA extremists want the bill passed so badly: if passed, the bill would give Trump the power to label those who oppose him a "terrorist supporting organization."

There's no doubt he would abuse this power, John, and it would have a devastating impact on our rights and freedoms.

And while Democrats have managed to block the bill once, Republicans brought it back this morning and managed to pass it the second time.

Even more Democrats joined our opposition, but it wasn't enough to block it.

This is just the beginning of the attacks we'll be seeing from Trump and his MAGA allies in 2025.
