5-YEAR BUDGET OUTLOOK RELEASED | Mayor Todd Gloria released the City's 5-year Budget Outlook, marking the start of the City’s annual budget process. The numbers are sobering and risk undoing some of the progress we have made these past few years. More than ever, the Council and the public must weigh in early and often in a collaborative process as we identify cuts in services, programs, and staffing. The public’s first opportunity will be next Wednesday, December 11th, at the Council's Budget Committee where we will hear the formal presentation as well as an analysis by the Independent Budget Analyst. We hope to see you there. | EXPANDING SOLAR ENERGY FOR SAN DIEGANS | As Chair of San Diego Community Power, I was honored to join Arevon in cutting the ribbon on the Vikings Solar-plus-Storage Project, which directly supports San Diego Community Power's investment in clean and reliable energy for our customers. Projects like these advance the City’s commitment to ambitious renewable goals, while providing the environmental, community, and workforce benefits at the core of Community Power’s mission. | LEARN MORE: MIDWAY RISING PROJECT | Midway Rising, a housing, retail, and entertainment proposal to redevelop the San Diego Sports Arena, is hosting another informational workshop at the newly opened Pacific Highlands Ranch Library. I was honored to moderate a panel at RTFH’s Conference on Homelessness with Community Solutions President Rosanne Haggerty and BDP Impact Fund Manager David Foster. We discussed their innovative strategies, such as the Large Cities Housing Fund—a groundbreaking social impact equity initiative that purchases multi-family housing and could accelerate the delivery of truly affordable housing locally. | D1 INFRASTRUCTURE SPOTLIGHT | Thanks to our dedicated City of San Diego in-house mill and pave teams, we have completed repairs on Moonridge Drive from La Jolla Scenic Drive North to Costebelle Drive, with updated striping to enhance traffic safety. #GettingItDoneInD1 | Council President Pro Tem Joe LaCava Follow me on social media to stay up to date. | |
