John xxxxxx,
Today, I set out my Labour Government’s Plan for Change. It’s the next phase of
how this mission-driven government will turn the page on 14 years of broken
promises and Tory chaos.
The plan sets clear and measurable milestones to:
* Raise living standards, so you have more money in your pocket
* Build 1.5 million homes, so there are decent, affordable homes in your area
* Ending hospital backlogs to meet the NHS standard of 92% of elective
treatments within 18 weeks
* Put more police on the beat, so you feel safer in your community
* Giving children the best start in life, so that every child has the
opportunity to succeed
* Securing home-grown energy, so billpayers are protected
And it’s underpinned by the foundations of good government: economic stability,
border security and national security - we will reduce small boat crossings and
net migration while restoring order to asylum and immigration systems.
This Labour Government inherited unprecedented challenges - crumbling public
services, a £22 billion black hole in our economy and trust in politics at an
all-time low. Our immediate focus had to be fixing the foundations of our country so that we
could deliver change.
John xxxxxx, here is the progress we’ve made so far:
* Economy - we’ve taken the tough decisions in the Budget to stabilise the
economy, protected working people’s payslips, raised the minimum wage for
millions of low-paid working people and frozen winter fuel duty.
* NHS - we’ve agreed the largest funding settlement for the NHS outside of
Covid to deliver an extra 40,000 appointments per week.
* Safer streets - we’ve cracked down on anti-social behaviour with new Respect
Orders and kickstarted the recruitment of an additional 13,000 officers,
PCSOs and constables in neighbourhood roles.
* Energy - the launch of Great British Energy will provide clean, secure and
homegrown power.
* Opportunity - we’ve launched our drive to recruit 6,500 teachers, and have
already set out funding for up to 300 new or expanded nurseries in state
primary schools.
This progress means we can now set our course for the years ahead and deliver
the long-lasting change the British people voted for.
The Plan for Change will drive change across the country and empower the public
to hold the government to account on delivering their priorities. It sends a
clear message that this is a government of public service.
I’d like to invite you to watch the speech I delivered today to learn more about
it:

My Labour government chooses stability, investment and reform over Conservative
chaos, austerity and decline.
This Plan for Change is how we’ll deliver it.
Thank you,
