Recently, a headline from The New York Times really struck me:
The article listed 98 total rollbacks -- 64 completed, 34 in progress -- on everything from limits on carbon emissions to common-sense protections for clean air, water, and against toxic chemicals. I was floored -- but it confirmed yet again the importance of our fight to protect our planet.
These rollbacks prioritize Big Oil and Big Coal over the American people. And to make it worse, many of these rules were finalized in the past few weeks, while the country was struggling to fight the coronavirus pandemic.
It's not lost on me that the rollbacks to our air quality were finalized during a pandemic attacking our respiratory systems. That just underlines why this fight is so personal to so many of us.
